Cos finds the coolest shit. We've been playing with AudioMulch and he already has some funky stuff down. I wanted sampling and sequencing similar to what Trent Reznor does, but ended up with something Alex termed the "most annoying thing he'd ever heard." Volume needs to be turned up slightly to get the full clubbing effect, imagine red/blue lights flashing in and out, sweat on your brow, trickling down your neck, your white t-shirt glowing a scary shade of fluorescent purple. Imagine being drunk as hell and maybe these 12 seconds will pass quickly. I've been wanting to make good electronica, not that I'm a big fan of the genre, but sampling and sequencing are such fun and wonderful things to do with sound. After doing all that techno shit and returning to the MTV movie video awards on tv, which I was taping because there is just so much of Eminem to go around in those three hours. Returning to the tube, I suddenly wanted to make good music, really good music, wishing I had Lauryn Hill's rhythm and the ability to rap, wear big pants, play respectable musical instruments. Is it my hormones or did Em look so very vulnerable onstage all by his lonesome rapping badly? He seemed self-conscious and a little stage-frighted until Dr Dre came on to save him. Those pants must weigh a ton. |
